This fantastic Annapurna Base Camp Trek, takes you to the base of Mt. Annapurna (8091m) which is ranked 10th highest peak in the world and the journey to its base camp is one of the most fascinating treks on earth. There are fewer treks that combine so many different sceneries and bring you so close to the base of 7,000 and 8,000 meter high peaks in such a short period of time as the Annapurna Base Camp Trek.

Like any other treks in the region, Annapurna Base Camp trek also begins from Pokhara, generally known as the "City of Lakes" and city of natural beauty. The trail to Annapurna Base Camp goes through pouring waterfalls, charming villages, terraced rice fields, lush rhododendron forests, and wonderful mountain panoramas before reaching the base of the mighty Annapurna Himalaya. Our 10 days carefully designed Annapurna Base Camp Trek itinerary is intended for those trekkers who would like to trek to the base camp of Annapurna with relaxing time and enough time to get acclimated to avoid getting Acute Mountain Sickens. The Annapurna Base Camp Trek takes 6 to 8 days to get to your dream destination depending on your itinerary and length of walking days. The itinerary offered here is of 10 days package, starting from Nayapul, a one and half hours drive from Pokhara, and going up till Ghorepani to the north and the well-known viewpoint of Poon Hill. From Ghorepani you go eastwards to Chumrung and then north again, entering the Modi Kola Valley up till the Base Camp via Machhapuchhre Base Camp at the elevation of 3700 meters from seas level.

Many other trekkers just trek the circuit Nayaul – Ghorepani – Ghandruk – Nayapul or either Continue through Landruk – Tolka – Australian Camp or Dhampus then end the trek at Phedi, This Trek is called Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek, which is very rewarding in itself. This trek can easily be done with children as well. From Annapurna Base Camp you can return via Jhinu Danda, and give your tired body a well-deserved rest in the delightful hot springs for natural hot spa. Upon your return it is worthwhile visiting one of the Gurung villages of Ghandruk or Landruk depending on your tour plan as well.

Detail Itinerary

  • Day 01 :Kathmandu to Pokhara by tourist coach. Pokhara may not seem far from Kathmandu (the cities are only 126 miles / 204 km apart), but the Nepali terrain and road quality make for a very long drive. That's why many travelers opt to fly. Here are your options for traveling between the two cities, either by air or road. We can arrange a private car or book a flight ticket for you that cost extra USD 120 if you ask us.
  • Day 02 :Drive to Birethanti and trek to Ulleri (2100m), 3 hours walk. After a fine cooked breakfast we leave our hotel at around 8:00am. Saying goodbye to civilization, we take car or van ride depending group size. We travel following Seti River and then via Nau Danda, Kande, Lumle and descend down to Nayapul. 1.5 hours drive takes us to Birethanti where we register our trekking permissions. The trail goes along the Burundi Khola via village of Ramghai, Sudame, Hile and Tikhedunga. We have lunch on the way wherever we feel hungry. At the end of day, we climb at the foot of a giant hill to Ulleri (2100m) said to have 3000 stone steps, 500m walk up from Tikhedunga. Overnight stay in trekking lodge.
  • Day 03 :Trek to Deurali (2850m), 5-6 hours walk Our journey continues after hot breakfast at around 08:00 o’clock in the morning. Today, we still have more stone steps for a while and soon we walk through Banthanti and Nagethanti, we have tea break at Nagethanti, the trail goes through magnificent rhododendron and oak forests. It is 5-6 hours walk in total to get to beautiful Ghorepani Deurali. Stay overnight at lodge.
  • Day 04 :Hike Poon Hill (3200m) and trek to Tadapani (2570m), 5-6 hours walk An early-morning hike up to Poon Hill (3210m) for amazing brilliant sunrise and panoramic view of high Himalaya, It takes about 45 minutes and 400 meter walk up to the view point. After enjoying sun rise and Mountain View come back to hotel and after breakfast trek to Tadapani/25400m. Stay overnight at lodge.
  • Day 05 :Trek to Chhumrung (2170m), 4-5 hours Leaving Tadapani, the triail descends down through forest and we can hear birds chirping. After walking down about 45 minutes the trail goes very steep downhill through the terraced field to Kimrung Khola, cross the suspension bridge and walk to Gurjung, the trail ascends up after Gurjung village during 45 minutes then straight walk to Chhmrung at the elevation of 2170m. It takes 4-5 hours from Tadapani to Chhumrung. Stay overnight at lodge.
  • Day 06 :Trek to Dovan (2630m), 5 hours walk The trail descends down 310 meter through thousands of stone staircase crosses then crosses Chhumrung Khola on bridge and climbs up to Sinuwa at the height of 2340 meter. It is easy walk through rhododendron festooned with orchids and ferns then steep down with stone staircase to Bamboo. After having lunch there we walk throughout the cool forest about an hour to Dovan at the elevation of 2630 meter. Stay overnight at lodge.
  • Day 07 :Trek to Deurali (3230m), 6-7 hrs walk. We have a silence jungle walk today to Himalaya from Dovan. It is believed that mountains are sacred and holy. As it is already believed that Annapurna means "full of food" (feminine form), but is normally translated as Goddess of the Harvests. In Hinduism, Annapurna is "... the universal and timeless kitchen-goddess ... the mother who feeds. Without her there is starvation and a universal fear. Her most popular shrine is located in Kashi, on the banks of the river Ganga." Her association with the giving of food (wealth) led her in time to be transformed into Lakshmi, the Goddess of Wealth so from the religious view it is important to respect the Mother Nature, create peaceful and calm surroundings. Stay overnight at lodge.
  • Day 08 :Trek to ABC (Annapurna Base Camp) 4130m, walk 5-6 hrs. Above Deurali the valley widens and becomes less steep. After walking some stone staircase we reach at the place where some people were killed by avalanche a decade ago. We should not stop in this dangerous place for long time. This place is warned of avalanche so continue trek ahead with aware until you get to safe place. As you walk further, more beautiful White Mountains more seen and close. The trail turns to the left in the valley after Machhapuchhre Base Camp and it is pleasant walk up ABC though the air is thin. You can see 360˙degree Mountain View from Base Camp. There are tremendous view of giant Annapurna I 8091m, Annapurna South 7219m, Machhapuchhre (Mt. Fishtail) 6997m and several other wonderful peaks. Stay overnight at lodge.
  • Day 09 :Trek down to Dovan or Bamboo (2310m), 6-7 hrs walk. After enjoying Brilliant Mountain view and taking hot cup of tea or coffee we take hot breakfast and trek down to Dovan or Bamboo via MBC, Deurali and Himalaya. We take tea and lunch break on the way. Stay overnight at lodge.
  • Day 10 :Trek to Jhinu (1780m), 6-7 hr4s walk. From Bamboo we walk up during 30 minute and it is pleasant jungle walk to Sinuwa then head down to Chhumrung Khola and walk up long stone staircase up upper Chhomrung then walk steep down to Jhinu, book room and after eating lunch go down to the hot spring, it takes about 20 minutes. Take bath in natural hot water and come back lodge. Stay overnight at lodge.

    Best trekking agency in Nepal!

    Rating:

Thank you very much Wilderness Excursion for lifetime experience trip in Nepal. I and my friends had an amazing trip to Annapurna Base Camp in December 2017. As we did not have any recommended travel agency in Nepal so we just started searching in internet for our dream trip and got to come to contact Wilderness Excursion online. We just wrote them about our travel needs and all our questions were answered thoroughly; we decided to put our trust in them and were happy that we picked them as our tour organizer. It was our best dream trip in Nepal. We would like to thank Pradip and his team for his hospitality in Kathmandu which was very nice. A big thanks to our fantastic guide Aital who was a great fellow on our trip and looked after us perfectly, making sure we stayed safe, healthy and well fed. We would love to visit Nepal again and using the same company. Anyone looking for Nepal trek; we highly recommend Wilderness Excursion.

Best trekking company experience we ever had

    Rating:

We had an incredible 2 weeks trip with this company. We tailored a trip including Ghorepani Poon Hill with Annapurna Base Camp. We have used several companies for all kind of trips in the past but Wilderness Excursion is by far one of the finest. From our first mail to our last day in Kathmandu, everything was great. The communication before the trip could not have been better and each mail was answered immediately. Also tailoring the trip day by day was no problem and we ended up with our own itinerary. During the actual trip our trekking guide took very good care of us and also changing the itinerary on the way was no problem. We absolutely got what we paid and hoped for and had no worries during the trip. We suggest this great company!!! Thanks to the entire staff for making our trip an experience of a lifetime.

    Amazing ABC experience

    Rating:

We organized a trek with Pradip and a porter cum guide for the Everest Base Camp, after the flights were keeping delayed to Lukla for 2 days (and more) we decided to sit down with Pradip and talk about a plan B. He basically took care of us in the best way possible, quickly rearranged everything very last minute (permits, flights, guide etc) and we ended up with a new guide Rahul on the way to an extended Annapurna Base Camp trek. and this could not have been a better decision at all! it was stunning and absolutely amazing. Rahul looked after us very well, able to communicate with us for the things we needed and for explanations of the surroundings. He is a very nice guy, and fun to be around for a longer time.  All in all we can only recommend to book your trip with Wilderness Excursion and Pradip! Thank you so much! We will be back!

    Annapurna Base Camp Trek

    Rating:

We had an amazing 12 day trek to Annapurna Base Camp in April 2017. Our communication upfront with Pradip went very easy and we got some good information. We met up in Kathmandu to make the payment and we left for Pokhara as we want to spend few relaxing days there before starting the trek to Annapurna Base Camp. We met our guide in Pokhara before we leave and began the trek. Our guide did his very best to make sure everything was arranged well! We had an amazing time in Annapurna Base Camp; we would definitely recommend wilderness excursions and their team to other Nepal travelers! Thank you for a wonderful hike!!!!

    Annapurna Base Camp Trek

    Rating:

What can I say about this guide? He’s amazing! This is coming from a person who signed up for the Annapurna ABC trek as a “great destination trek” having not trained for it, and not being in the best shape I’ve been in, this trek was GREAT! Pradip was our guide I’d recommend to anyone who is planning on trekking in the Himalayas-this is because he is very aware of your needs, your abilities, and your pace. My friend and I were at similar abilities, yet we acclimatized at different rates- so our pace ended up being a combination of our abilities. Pradip was aware of this and was constantly looking out for us on the trail. During the hiking days we’d take a short two-minute break, or a “take 2,” which ended up being a “take 10” with Pradip handing us some fresh oranges from his bag, or some cookies to help us recharge and refuel along the trail. These were great acts of kindness when you’re packing everything you need on your shoulders and carrying only what you really need to save weight. Pradip was considerate enough to carry extra weight in his own bag just to keep our morale up and give us treats along the trail- it was great! When we reached the teahouses each night, Pradip would always put us first and make sure ALL of our needs were met before he did anything. If you visit Nepal you will realize that this type of hospitality is common, but even more appreciated while trekking. I really can’t say enough about Pradip, he’s a great guy-he has a great sense of humor, is well traveled, speaks many languages, and is always smiling. When you get to know him you realize that deep down he is a genuinely kind and compassionate person-some of the best attributes for guiding trekkers! As far as the difficulty of the trail and my physical ability: I decided to show up and give the trail a shot. I’m 6’2” and about 270 lbs. I managed each day according to the originally planned itinerary, so I held my own. I found it difficult at first but I got used to the pace and the altitude. I also lost some weight! (a bonus!) but I also learned that if I can do it, anyone can! I saw trekkers from their teens to their 60’s on the ABC trek trail. So if you are willing, you can do it! Pradip is the guide to make a “bucket list” type of trip a reality and complete the trip with a great sense of camaraderie, enjoyment and friendship! I’m going to speak to Pradip the next time I’m planning a trip to Nepal!
