After settling down and relax visit Ta Dzong (National Museum), which towers above the Paro Dzong and viewing its well-interpreted collection of historic artifacts makes for a great prologue to the journey yet to come. Next visit Paro Dzong. This massive fortress is located in the Paro valley and is approached by a gently sloping flagstone road and a beautiful wooden bridge roofed with shingles and abutted by two guardhouses. Today, the Dzong is the Administrative seat of the district of Paro and it also contains a state monastic community of about 200 monks. The central tower (“Utse”) of the Dzong is one of the most beautiful in Bhutan with its superb woodwork. The Dzong was built in 1646 A.D. Drive to Thimphu in evening. Overnight Hotel.
  • Day 04 :Thimphu - Punakha (1310m) After breakfast, visit the National Memorial Chorten with it’s golden spines shining in the sun, its tinkling bells built in honor of third King of Bhutan, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. Institute of Traditional Medicine, where old healing arts such as acupuncture and herbal remedies are still practiced. Also visit the Folk Heritage Museum, dedicated to the Bhutanese rural past with it’s exhibition of items & artifacts used in rural households, the Textile Museum, where the art of traditional weaving is still kept alive and preserved through exhibition and has a good collection of old textiles rich in its colour and design. Afterwards, drive to Punakha from Thimphu for about 3 hours. First the road climbs steeply through the pine & cedar forests festooned with hanging lichen high up near Dochula pass (3,050 m). Often panoramic Himalayan views can be spotted from the pass. After stopping for tea, the road descends along a series of hairpin bends to the fertile valley of Punakha. Overnight at Hotel.
  • Day 05 :Punakha – Wangdue (1,240m) After breakfast, visit Punakha Dzong crossing the bridge. It’s the ancient capital of Bhutan connecting the Mo Chu & Pho Chu Rivers. It is also the winter capital for the monks and the Je Khenpo (chief abbot). Afterwards, drive to Lobeysa for lunch. After lunch hike another 20 minutes to Chime Lhakhang, temple of the “Divine Madman” built in 1499 and today mostly visited by the women who couldn’t bear Children, thus also known as the temple of fertility. Afterwards, drive to Wangdue. Overnight at Hotel.

The Dzong is an ancient fort atop hill built in 1638 but serving as monastery nowadays. This fort is at the confluence of two rivers and originally meant to protect the southern invasion. Afterwards, drive back to Paro which is about 4 hours drive. Overnight at Hotel.
  • Day 07 :Paro - Hike to Taktsang Monastery (3,120m) Early in the morning, make an excursion to Taktsang Monastery – this has to be the monastery with the most outstanding setting in Bhutan. Set on a vertical cliff face at 2950m above sea level, it defies all engineering logic. For the energetic, hike 2 hours up to get a more dramatic view of the monastery. (The hike demands a certain level of fitness and a pony ride to the monastery can be arranged at additional cost). Just on the outskirts of Paro town, visit Kyichu Lhakang, one of the oldest temples in Bhutan and have the opportunity to meet the local villages in a local farm house. Overnight at Hotel.
