Kanchenjunga and Lumba Sumba Trek is a virgin trail trekking trail newly proposed in western part of Nepal offers less traveled and wilderness experiences. Though the journey starts from Kathmandu; walking adventure starts from Phoongling that is some 7-8 hours jeep ride from Bhadrapur . The hike and trekking passes through diverse cultural groups, terraced farmlands and villages along the Lumba Sumba pass trek via Kanchenjunga Base Camp. 

Kanchenjunga and Lumba sumba pass trek brings trekkers from Kanchenjunga North base Camp to Lumba Sumba then to Makalu region. There are occasional sightings of the Snow Leopard and the Red Panda along Lumba Samba Pass trail. The Lumba Sumba Pass at a height of 5,177 meter above sea level is the highest point of Lumba sumba pass trek. The three week trek ends at Num, from where we drive to Khandbari and then to the Tumlingtar Airport where the flight to Kathmandu awaits us.

Outline Itinerary:

  • Day 01: Take the flight to Bhadrapur and jeep ride to Ilam
  • Day 02: Drive to Sinwa (1055m), 5-6 hours.
  • Day 03: Trekking to Taplethok (1322m), 6-7hours.
  • Day 04: Trekking to Amjilowa (2400m), 6-7 hours walk
  • Day 05: Trekking to Gyabla (2725m)
  • Day 06: Trekking to Gunsa (3415m), 4 hours walk.
  • Day 07: Rest day to acclimatize at Gunsa.
  • Day 08: Trekking to Khambachen (4145m), 4 hours walk.
  • Day 09: Trekking to Lonak (4790m), 4 hours walk.
  • Day 10: Excursion to Kanchenjunga north base camp (5140), back to Lonak, 7 hours walk
  • Day 11: Trekking to Ghunsa (3415m) 7-8 hours walk.
  • Day 12: Trekking to Kharka (4160m).
  • Day 13: Trekking to Langjong Kharka (3734m)
  • Day 14: Trekking to Olangchunggola (3208m)
  • Day 15: Trekking to Langmale (3893m)
  • Day 16: Trekking to Chaurikharka (4594m)
  • Day 17: Trekking to Thudam (3500m)
  • Day 18: Trekking to Kharka (2877m)
  • Day 19: Trekking to Chepuwa (2040m)
  • Day 20: Trekking to Hatiya - (1585m)
  • Day 21: Trekking to Gola - (1128m)
