Larke Peak; also spelled Larkya Peak climbing expedition starts from Arughat after a 7-8 hours bus or 4WD jeep ride from Kathmandu. Larke Peak is one the newly opened popular trekking peaks in Mansiri Himalayan Range of Manaslu area. We follow Manaslu Circuit Trekking trail along the Budhi Gandaki River from Arughat. Our journey goes through the mixed Hindu and Buddhist communities, people of different ethnic groups, lush green terraced rice-fields and peaceful and tranquil forests. We will see mix cultural and religious diversity in the lower elevation of this Larke Peak Climbing Trek. After entering Jagat, we will trek through Tibetan Buddhist dominant communities and villages as we can see Buddhist monasteries, manis, chorten and kanis in every villages.
As Manaslu region has remained restricted area and due to licensed guide and special trekking permit mandatory to trek there from its opening time to the outsiders, only few numbers of trekkers has accessed the region so region has been able to preserve its uniqueness. This trip offers naturally astonishing scenery, Himalayan culture, View of Mt. Manaslu (8163m) that every trekker can have the maximum satisfaction of nature's paradise. Itinerary
This is our standard itinerary. It can be customized or slightly changed if required considering your pace and trekking habit that cause to change of day to day plan
Day 01: Kathmandu – Arughat (608m) - Machhakhola (869m) drive by 4WD private jeep
We drive to Arughat - Soto Khola - Machha Khola by 4WD jeep via Dhadingbesi. It takes 7 to 8 hours. Overnight in Everest Lodge.
Day 02: Trekking Machhakhola to Jagat (1300m), 6-7 hours walk.
After breakfast, we resume our trek. We hike through several villages including Khani Besi, and Khorla Besi and continue our trek passing several landslides. On the way to Doban we can view northern east view of Ganesh Himal. After 6-7 hours walk finally to reach our today's destination Jagat, . Overnight in lodge.
Day 03: Trek to Deng (1890m), 5-6 hours walk.
Sweet and short breakfast then we continue our trek passing through several landslides we reach Jagat a view point for Sringi Himal and which is also MCAP office and custom office. The stone paved trails continues to Philim crossing Salleri and Sirdibas. After 6-7 hours walk we finally get to our today's destination. Overnight in lodge.
Day 04: Trekking to Ghap (2300m). 6-7 hours walk.
Another day of walking after breakfast we restart our trek passing through Ekle Bhatti, Have lunch at Deng then we continue our trail to Ghap. With up and down ascend and descend the trail takes us forward to our destination. 6-7 hours walk finally the trail take us to Ghap. Overnight night in lodge.
Day 05: Ghap – Lho Gaun (3180), 6-7 hours walk.
Our journey goes passing several beautiful villages on the way and experiencing greenery of Nepali hills finally we reach a beautiful village called Lho. We can have a stroll after getthing there. The hotel has WiFi service to connect back to family by internet and that it is also the first view point of mighty Mt. Manaslu with Sringi Himal and Naike Peak etc. Overnight in lodge.
Day 06: Lho Gaun – Samagaun (520m), 5-6 hours walk.
After breakfast we pack our bags and start walking for another day's destination. Today we are moving from Lho to another beautiful village Samagaon. Passing several wonderful villages and view point of Manaslu, Shyala ultimately we find our today's rest place Sama Gaun. Overnight in lodge.
Day 07: Rest and acclimatization day
As it is very important to get acclimatized to adopted your body with high altitude so this day is acclimatization day. Visit local community, interact with local peoples and enjoy viewing panoramic views of Manaslu, Hike to Birendra Lake. Refresh yourself. Overnight in lodge.
Day 08: Samagaun – Samdo Village (3875m), 3-4 hours walk.
After a whole day rest get ready for your job, early breakfast and start walk for Samdo. Crossing Homang Khola and following the trail we reach to our destination of Samdo. In Samdo we can visit Taka Choeling Gumba and also view Naike and Pangouche Peak. Overnight in lodge.
Day 09: Rest and acclimatization day at Samdo
It is an another rest and acclimatization day in samdo. We hike to Samro Peak or either Rui La (Nepal - Tibet boarder) that makes more acclimatized for Larke Peak climbing. Overnight in lodge. Overnight in lodge.
Day 10: Samdo – Dharmasala aka Larke Phedi(4460m), about 4 hours hike
Dharmasala /Larke Phedi is the preset destination for today. After breakfast we start our foot work and follow the trail to Larke Phedi passing a fair seasonal Tibetan market Larkya Bazar. The trail forwards through stone huts advancing us fantastic views of Larke Peak, Naike Peak and lead us to Larke Phedi-stop point for today. Overnight night in lodge.
Day 11: Samdo – Larke Peak Base Camp (5135m), 4-5 hours leisure walk.
Today we set off to the Larke Peak Base Camp. We will stay here in tented camp near Larke La Pass. After setting the camp there, some briefing about climbing techniques is held. Overnight in tent.
Day 12: Climbing period
Exciting and hard days of your trip, what it will be? It is definitely the peak climbing period of trip. These two days are most challenging and tough. Start your climbing, proceed your climbing, and get to your dream. These days are for staying in camp inside the tent. Nights in tent.
Day 13: Larke Peak Base Camp – Bimtang (3800m), 5-6 hours walk down
Touched your desire and completed your dream, today is the starting day to comeback. Following Larkya Glacier and Larke La (5135m) passing Salpudanda glacier a descent trail leads us to Bhimtang a nice view point for Lamjung, Cheo Himal, Himlung and Manaslu Himal and much more. Overnight in tent.
Day 14: Bimthang – Gowa (2300m), 6 to 7 hours walk.
Take breakfast and get ready for the walk. Today, the trail leads us to a place called Gowa a nice place to relax. Walking through Yak Kharka, Kharche, and Goa a wonderful relaxing place. Overnight in lodge.
Day 15: Gowa - Syange(1100m), 6-7 hours walk.
The final day of walking of your trip. After early breakfast we resume our walk. The trail leads us to several beautiful villages and many landslides. With hilly greenery of Himalayan country. After six to seven hours walk the trail placed us to Syange. Overnight in lodge
Day 16: Syange – Besisahar - Kathmandu
After breakfast we drive to Besisahar by bus. From Besisahar we take our bus to Kathmandu. Evening will be for farewell dinner with Wilderness Excursion Nepal. Transfer to Samsara Resort
